DAANES representation in Europe
5 dec 2024
Since November 27, a new war has been raging in Syria, from which extent is still unclear.
The main victims of it are civilians. A humanitarian catastrophe is deepening. The spiral of violence
of the Turkish state is directed against the Kurdish regions in Northern and Eastern Syria.
Once again, we see images of beheaded Kurds, abducted Kurdish women, and hundreds of thousands of refugees.
All these atrocities are attributed to the Turkish state and its proxy forces in the region.
Unfortunately, current media coverage is generally contributing little to de-escalating the situation. We would therefore like to invite journalists and reporters to the Kurdish regions of North and East Syria to enable neutral reporting.
The Office for Foreign Relations of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) has agreed to provide security, on-site translation and accommodation to the journalists that wish to form part of this delegation, although costs cannot be covered.
Entry will be via the secured Iraqi-Syrian border crossing Semalka.
Citizens of the EU, the United Kingdom, the USA, Canada, and Japan can enter the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan in Iraq without a visa. They will receive a stamp in their passportat the airport, which serves as a residence permit for 30 days. DAANES organizes the trip from Erbil to the border and beyond. Before departure, an application for a border crossing permit must be submitted to Ms. Lara Ahmad at the Presidency of the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan. Please send an email to lara1.krp@gmail.com and wait for a response.
Dr. Mohamed from the Office for Foreign Relations of DAANES will assist the journalists in Rojava. He speaks English, Kurdish, and Arabic.
